The Gold Coast boasts a 36 kilometre oceanway path network that can be enjoyed and explored by runners, cyclists and walkers.
Along the way their are plenty of points of interest and lookouts to stop and take in the surrounds and views. You'll also notice distance marker posts that tell you about where you are along the Oceanway.
You'll also have access to public toilets, exercise equipment, playgrounds, barbecues and shaded areas at different stages along the walkway. Plus the entire route is well serviced by Surfside Buses.
Segment six of this pathway is the Broadbeach Oceanway. It runs 2.5kilometres from Mermaid Beach to Fern Street.
Starting at the Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club, and heading north along Hedges Avenue to Kurrawa Park - passing the Robert Gatenby boardwalk that fronts the clubhouse of Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving.
From here continue along Broadbeach Boulevard passing by the Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club before going inland at First Avenue. Once on Old Burleigh Road walk along the footpath until you reach Fern Street.
Carmel by the Sea is right across the road from Kurrawa Park where you'll find a large expanse of grassy parklands with great facilities including a popular kids playground, agility circuit, and barbecue areas.
