Our central location makes for a perfect base for exploring all that the Gold Coast has to offer! This month on our blog we will be taking a look at some of the hinterland locations and other beaches on the Gold Coast that you can visit while staying at Carmel by the Sea in Broadbeach.
Today we're heading just a little way south to the popular beachside area of Burleigh Heads, just a 20 minute drive south.
Burleigh is well worth a visit when you are staying on the Gold Coast, with several great attractions and things to do.
1. Burleigh Beach
Popular with swimmers and surfers alike, the patrolled beach offers a good surf break and a protected corner that's usually great for swimming.
2. Burleigh Head National Park
Enjoy nature on the Gold Coast with a walk through rainforest, eucalypt forest, pandanus groves and more. The rocky foreshore is also a great vantage point for spotting ocean life, particular during whale season.
3. Burleigh Art & Craft Market
Held on the last Sunday of each month, the market offers over 150 stalls with locally made crafts, fresh produce, yummy home made goodies and more.
4. Burleigh Brewing Company
The Brewhouse Bar at HQ is open each Friday from 5pm to 8:30pm with live music, food trucks and of course Burleigh Brewing Company beer. Located on Ern Harley Drive, Burleigh Heads.
5. David Fleay Wildlife Park
Located on West Burleigh Road, take a stroll through wetland and rainforest as you see iconic Australian wildlife including koalas, emus, brolgas, crocodiles and more.
